RDAR and MHDI

RDAR, the Rural Drug Addiction Research Center, works to understand the manifold experiences of people who use drugs in the rural Midwest. The center’s core 5-year study is made possible by the National Institute of General Medical Science’s Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence program. The RDAR center brings together researchers who focus on brain chemistry, social patterns of drug use, epigenetic understandings of biology and experience, and others. Working together, their goal is to understand the full range of the effects of substance use from the synapse through society. Their research will help rural communities in our region understand regional substance use experiences and inform outreach, prevention, and treatment efforts.

MHDI, the Minority Health Disparities Initiative is a University-wide interdisciplinary research initiative funded by the Office of Research and Economic Development and the Tobacco Settlement Funds in Nebraska. The Initiative provides UNL faculty with an infrastructure for conducting innovative research to improve the health status of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations and expand the participation of minorities in health research and education. The objectives of the MHDI are to create a community of like-minded scholars capable of engaging each other in the pursuit of high-level research on minority health and health disparities, to increase the participation of minority scholars at all levels (faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates) in health-related research, and to train the next generation of minority health scholars at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral levels.

In 2022, Soarin Group became NABHO’s second Alliances Partner! As an Alliances Partner, they provide IT and HR services to NABHO and assist in finding ways to generate non-dues revenue.
